That looks super!!!

Is that a 3-9x40mm scope? How do you like it? Is that the Mil-Dot reticle?

Sure looks good with that LaRue mount... Is that a LT-104?

Sorry for all the questions!

It is a 3x9x40 mil-dot in LT-104-1 mount and I absolutely love it! Comes with turrets for 55gr bullet at 3100 FPS but you can get turrets for what ever round you need........

Since the scope will be in a LaRue LT-139 QD mount, that means I can knock it off in a couple of seconds, should it go down, and transition be necessary.

To run BUIS, and a scope, WITHOUT a QD mount, is a little self-defeating, however.

I've also been looking at the Leupold AR series scopes for my SPR/AR... Thinking about the 3-9x40mm... It gets great reviews...

I love the LaRue LT-139 mounts... but they are really pricey... Leupold makes a QD mount that is less than half of the price of the LaRue mount... Of course it doesn't locate the scope as far forward as the 139 LaRue mount does... still deciding...

LaRue mounts do rock... Just hate paying over half the cost of the scope for a mount...

I got my LaRue LT139 from a little tactical dealer in OH that I've dealt with for a few years now. He had a 1" EER model - NiB - that he wanted to get rid of, and that's EXACTLY what I wanted - $165 out of the door.

I've got a burris pepr qd and a few adm qd's. They both work good.

I plan to shoot mostly 55gr .223 ammo, so the turrets should be perfect... I'm not sure how close my velocity will be to 3100fps, but it will have an 18 inch barrel, so it should have good velocity...

If you had it to do over again, would you get the LT-104 or the LT-139 mount? The Leupold 3-9x40 has about 4 inches of eye relief... I'm not sure exactly how to line the scope up... I suspect I would find a comfortable grip and cheek weld on my AR... Mark where my eye is positioned and then locate the scope's eyepiece 3.7 inches (eye relief distance) in front of that for a starting point.

I'm tall and have long arms, so I like to shoot with the stock almost fully extended... It seems like the LT-104 might be better for me... Is there any way to tell which mount is better without actually buying one?

or tell you that you have them on "backwards".

The LT-104 is perfect for my application using an A2 butt stock. You will notice that the optic is dead center of the rings too. So your stock type and shooting style will determine what you need. Here is a pic of it on it's final resting place. It is plenty forward for me and I actually mount it one notch back on the upper receivers rail to get it where it is comfortable for me so you will still have plenty of space to play with if needed..........

Thanks for posting that picture... It helps a lot...

I took some measurements on my lower/upper with my stock in its shooting position... I compared measurements from my eye on my lower to your scope's rear location in your picture... Gives me a good idea of how things line up.

I actually bought a JP mount for my own rifle at almost half the price of the Larue mounts since I don't need QD on a competition rifle anyway
