UBR or ACS?

Postby Fire_Medic » Sun Sep 27, 2009 10:09 pm

Well I'm torn on which to go with for my BCM middy. I just received an FDE UBR this past week after a year of trying to get a hold of one, and I'm torn because with the UBR I can't use the MS2 in single point mode, if you will. However I love the UBR and the way it looks and feels and I'm sure it would balance out my middy every bit as well as my old EMOD use to.

I thought I would have to install a new castle nut with the UBR and then have it staked which I don't know how to do properly, but that's not the case, as the UBR and it's extension tube that it brings does not call for an end plate or castle nut. So I'm stumped. I have my MIAD, MOE trigger guard, Magpul Ranger plates on my black PMAGS, and now the UBR in FDE already, the ACS would call for me going back to all black?

So UBR in FDE and 2 point sling, or switch to ACS in black and run the MS2 I scored in FDE?

Or should I go with the UBR and run the MS2 as a 2 point sling?

Let's hear it fellas. :dunno:

You can use the UBR with the MS2 sling. You just won't have the full side to side ability. there is a QD cup right up close to the lower on the UBR. I would stick with the UBR. YOu already have everything else in FDE and the UBR FDE is really cool. Now if you were saying you don't like the weight of the UBR and would rather go with the ACS that is totally different.

As for installation, you screw in the RE and the UBR stock slides over that, guide it as it compresses the rear takedown detent spring, and give it a sturdy whack. Then install the screw in the back to hold it to the RE.

Just got the UBR on, wasn't as hard as it seems. I like it, it is heavier than my old EMOD but it balances nicely and I'm sure it will balance perfectly once a FF rail goes on along with the X300 and the Aimpoint Comp ML3.

Thanks for your input Dris. I'll play around with the slings to see what works best.

I have an idea for magpul with that UBR. If they take that forward QD cup mount and just turn it straight down you have the ASAP on the stock. But they would have to retool the mold. It would be awesome though.

Yes that would be awesome, but then I'd need to buy a new UBR, lol....... :hide:

Either is a fine choice, having said that two ACS' could be had for the cost of one UBR.... :2cents:

As cool as the ACS is (I'll be getting one) it is no UBR.
