Sweet!
By now your name and particulars have been fed into every laptop, desktop, mainframe and supermarket scanner that collectively make up the global information conspiracy otherwise known as "THE BEAST"

I wanted a good walk around lens for a Nikon D700 that I'm getting this month. After reading a number of reviews and not wanting to break the bank I chose a Nikon 28-105 f3.5/4.5D with macro. They don't make this lens anymore but was able to find one here in mint condition. It has the same reproduction ratio as there dedicated macro's. The pics above were shot on my D100.
I have 8 other Nikon lenses but none that cover this amount of focal range.

Nice! I'm saving up for a speedy prime, prolly the Nikkor 50mm 1.4f, I want something that'll give my a razor-thin depth of field for portraits.

I have that lens... you'll love it. I put that on and shoot found/street subjects. Fixed focal length makes you be a little more creative. I think my favorite is my 85mm f1.8D. Perfect portrait lens.

Ever play with any LensBaby's?

I've thought about it, but my kit is still very early on, so I have a list of priorities before I start playing with anything like those. Not that they wouldn't be fun, but if I had the $200 to invest in my kit a tripod is much more important to me. I'm hoping to pick up a Hakuba HG-503, it's basically Hakuba's take on the lower end Gitzos.

I've shot two weddings...NEVER AGAIN. To many art directors(usually the prospective mother-in-laws).

One of several reason I got out of the business.

If I ever shoot a wedding it'll be very clear up front that I'll be taking my cues and direction from 2 people and/or their designated proxy, everyone else is welcome to tell me what to do and be ignored.
